Kairava is a clinical Soul-Centred Psychotherapist,Counselor and Body Transformation practitioner. She has worked in private practice since 1990.
“I have worked with people for over 25 years, and offer an individual approach tailored to each person’s specific needs, whether in relation to current life challenges or long-standing issues.
My work as therapist is to create a safe and supportive space where clients can open up and explore whatever is calling out for attention. The therapeutic relationship is a vessel in which one can grow and develop in ways that may not have been possible before.
Inherent in my approach is the understanding that each person has the innate capacity to repair and heal, and that there is a vast inner intelligence that guides this healing process.
I help client’s access this inner intelligence by becoming aware of the relationship between their emotions and stored emotional memory, their thoughts and beliefs (the meaning we make out of our experiences), and their body sensations and physical patterns. We tell the stories of our life through our body and there is a wealth of information that becomes available when we pay attention to our whole body/mind connection. We may also explore dreams and access the inner life through symbol and imagination.
Each person’s process is different, for some, living more fully in the present means coming to terms with the wounds and stories of our past, and making space for the parts of ourselves that we have left behind. Value, meaning and healing emerge from each person’s unique process of inner work.
I feel priviledged to be a part of this empowering journey of self-discovery, as each person, in their own way, learns to connect to themselves more deeply, to listen to their inner knowing, to connect with a flow of healing and transformation from within themselves, and to access their inner resources and learn new tools to live more fully.
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for the full spectrum of what it is to be human … our lived experience … our stories, creativity, complexity, wisdom, struggles, suffering, and the mystery – the place where our human story and the sacred connect.
I find raw beauty in the everyday stuff of life, in the world around me, and in the wild majesty of nature.
My love of the creative arts infuses my work, and I draw upon the world stories of myth, film and literature, art, poetry, music and dance for inspiration, guidance and soulfood.
Credentials and Training
My initial training was in Body Transformation, a form of Therapeutic Deep-Tissue Bodywork. The focus of this work is to release and re-align the myo-fascia (the connective tissue surrounding the muscles) through a structured process that incorporates the body/mind connection and works holistically and mindfully with the whole person.
Along the way I felt the need to expand my training, and develop more tools and ways of working with people that were in alignment with current research in trauma, brain development, and our growing understanding of Psyche (our conscious and unconscious).
I completed a diploma in Soul-Centred Psychotherapy which has enabled me to work with people in many different ways, and tailor sessions to the needs of each client.
